Our History
A seed planted by a visionary - the late Leong Kong Seng -
Bersatu was sown and cultivated from the year 1982, when he began the running of Bersatu with the
help of his two children and 10 years of experience in the industry under his belt.
With a small start-up capital and a headcount of four,
Mr. Leong chose two strategic locations as base for Bersatu. A small office in the Pudu Area
facilitated clients who were headquartered around the Kuala Lumpur city centre and a smaller
two-table office in Port Kelang acted as an outpost to run the operations; one of Bersatu’s main
focus and expertise is acting as agent for customs clearance for imports and customs declaration
for exports.
Bersatu has only gone from strength to strength,
unfazed by the intense market competition, which instead fueled the company to more success.
A proof of this came in 1986; Bersatu introduced an innovative service to the market then –
Loose Container Loading (LCL) providing clients with an efficient, safe and complete solution
for domestic export to East Malaysia. Bersatu carved a solid position in the industry with
this and is still considered the LCL pioneers.
As a testament to our growth, today, we are a
total integrated logistics services provider, serving small to medium sized private,
public-listed and multinational companies of various industries.
In May 2009, Bersatu moved into its new
premises fit to serve the needs of its expanding clientele; a 25-acre piece of land
with a 5-storey office block and a 135,000 square feet warehouse. We were also
granted the Investment Tax Allowance (ITA), an incentive duly granted by the
Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) for the success and potential
that the company has in the logistics industry.
Forging Ahead
Mr. Leong Wing Yew, whose involvement
in the logistics industry started at the age of 20 as he worked alongside his late
father and Bersatu founder Mr. Leong Kong Seng, is the Director of Bersatu Integrated
Logistics Sdn Bhd and is also on the Board of several other Companies under the Bersatu
Flagship, of which he is also the Group Managing Director.
Over the years Mr. Leong has groomed the
family-run company into the reputable total logistics group it is today – with visionary
business skills and entrepreneurship coupled with vast experience, he has established
the Bersatu name prominently; trusted and praised by its clients for reliability and
dedication, and respected by its peers.
Mr. Leong has set the unenviable task
for himself to steer the Company to even greater heights by taking on the overall
stewardship of the Group and securing new businesses as well as envisioning the goals
and directions for the Company and ensuring returns to stakeholders.
With his guidance the company aims to be
a superlative logistics services provider for both local and international destinations;
and is focused on delivering prompt, efficient and cost effective services each and every time.
